AFTER CARE
Congratulations on your new tattoo! Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and maintains its detail and vibrancy. Please follow these guidelines carefully:
DERM SHIELD AFTERCARE
Day 1–5:
Keep your Derm Shield bandage on for 3–5 days.
You can shower with it, but avoid soaking the area—baths, pools, and hot tubs can weaken the adhesive.
You’ll see a buildup of ink, blood, and plasma under the film. This is normal.
Removal:
When ready to remove, take a warm shower and let water run over the bandage to loosen the adhesive.
Slowly and gently peel off the Derm Shield.
Cleaning & Moisturizing:
Wash the tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap and warm water.
Pat dry with a clean towel or let air dry.
Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion (such as Lubriderm) 2–3 times daily until the tattoo is fully healed (usually around 2–3 weeks).
Do Not:
Pick, scratch, or peel any flakes or scabs.
Re-bandage the tattoo.
Expose the tattoo to saltwater, prolonged sun, or chlorine for at least 4 weeks.
STANDARD AFTERCARE (If you do not use Derm Shield)
First 2–3 Hours:
Leave the initial bandage on for 2–3 hours.
Wash your hands before removing it.
Remove gently; if it sticks, dampen with warm water to release.
Wash with mild soap and warm water. Do not scrub—gently remove any plasma or residue.
Pat dry and let air dry for at least 10 minutes.
Apply a thin layer of ointment (Aquaphor or similar) to keep it moisturized.
Days 3–5:
Clean the tattoo twice daily.
Continue applying ointment 3–4 times a day.
Avoid letting the tattoo get too dry or too moist.
After Peeling Begins (3–5 Days):
Switch to fragrance-free lotion instead of ointment.
Itching and peeling are normal—never scratch or pick.
General Healing Timeline
2–4 weeks to fully heal.
Moisturize regularly to maintain color and prevent dryness.
Avoid direct sunlight and swimming until healed.
Always use high-SPF sunscreen on healed tattoos.
Do Not Use:
Vaseline or petroleum-based products.
Fragranced soaps or lotions.
Neosporin or medicated ointments.
Alcohol, peroxide, or iodine.
Watch for:
If you experience any of the following, contact a healthcare professional immediately:
Excessive redness, swelling, or heat.
Severe pain beyond mild tenderness.
Pus, foul odor, or unusual discharge.
Piercing Aftercare
Always wash hands before touching your piercing.
Clean 2–3 times daily with sterile saline solution.
Avoid twisting or removing jewelry during healing.
Keep piercings dry (no pools, baths, or saunas) for at least 2 weeks.
Never use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
